I JUST WANNA PUNCH STUFF.
Great work keeping things moving without leaving the pocket.
The EQ, Compression, and Reverb result in a decent amount of mud, but that might make this easier to listen to on repeat.
This was a lot of fun!

First of all, thank you for leaving your comment.
"I JUST WANNA PUNCH STUFF"... YEAH!! DAMN IT!! That's just what I was looking for. Today I can sleep happy.
You are right, the EQ, Compression, and Reverb result in a decent amount of mud, I made the track in a couple of hours to lend it out in time for the "pixel day 2022" event, so I just adjusted the volume a bit. This is not mixed and mastered properly.
Sorry for the delay of my response and thank you for your words. Comments like yours motivate me to continue composing.
LOVE that you're doing this.
Gold from start to finish.
This is so fun! I'll be all over your Spotify this week.
Not gonna lie, that drop kinda slaps.
It's probably my worst attempt at making a bad song on purpose. It helped me play around with different ideas that I think that I'll be using in the future for stuff like this
This just kept giving. I'm over here tilting my head side-to-side to the beat, wide-eyed and spooky.
Fun stuff, man!
Found it!
Catchy as hell, and the production is solid.
It feels like a lot of instruments are competing for attention in the mids and (to a lesser degree) the highs. The kick and bass would probably be the first to address. Maybe sweep an EQ peak in the area and see what covers up the piano and guitar the most, then carve out those frequencies a bit. Might want to increase the threshold on their compression as well, and bring back some low-end to fill out the sound. Seems like the harmonics on the bass are both outshining the root and getting in the way of the guitar, and I think that's mostly due to the compression. Likewise with the kick. The beater (probably in the 2-4khz range?) and the sub are the most important part imo. Pretty much anything else can be carved without sacrificing much.
If you want to try radicaldawg's feedback, but also want the sound to remain fairly dry, I'd recommend use of short-delay. Maybe 15ms or so, to mimic the sound bouncing off a nearby wall. Then a very light reverb (less than 10%, with less than a second of feedback) with the same delay. Smooths it out and adds dimension without sacrificing that up-front presence.
Good shit, man.
I can feel myself floating and soaring through the water. Discovering luminescent creatures, dancing past my friends, gazing as the rays of light shine through the water.
Beautiful work.
Thanks for the review! I'm glad you were able to visualize these things through the music - that's exactly what I tried to portray.
Love that break at 1:26, and the melodic vocals sound great!
Production is clean and clear, although there's a gradual dropoff after about 2kHz. Brightening up that end of the spectrum would add a lot of presence, but I kinda think I kinda prefer it this way. It's a lot less fatiguing, like easy listening heavy metal lol
Great to have you back, man.
Thanks dude 🤘
Love it!
It'd be cool if it gained some presence at some point, throwing in the bass and making things a bit more hi-fi. As it is, though, this is really pleasant background music. Sounds like it's being played by a small radio. Great groove with a clear, melodious mix. Perfect for low-level listening.
Thanks Jacob! I made a hi-fi version if you are curious https://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen/928174
I love you.
I love you too <3
